Answer: bio »

Not unlike the adage "you are what you eat," we could also consider the concept that "we are what we apply" in terms of the personal care products we use. Studies show that 60% of all chemicals contained in the products we apply are absorbed through the skin and end up in our bloodstream. Parabens are synthetic preservatives used in a wide range of cosmetics, skin care products, toothpastes, intimate lubricants, etc. to extend the shelf life by preventing growth of bacteria and fungi within the products. Parabens are also frequently used as food additives. Long considered safe for consumption and application, with relatively low toxicity, more recent scientific studies indicate that Parabens are not quite as safe as originally believed and have been linked to allergic reactions and more seriously, cancers that affect women. Experts have discovered that Parabens mimic the female hormone
estrogen and when absorbed by the body, they disrupt normal hormone production, which can contribute to the growth of tumors and cancer. Studies on breast cancer tumors revealed that tumors themselves contained high levels of Parabens which are believed to have been asorbed by the skin and ultimately stimulated tumor growth.

Natural and organic intimate health products such as Yes Organic Lubricant are 100% Paraben free and contain purely natural forms of preservatives. The most common natural alternatives to unsafe Parabens include grapefruit seed extract, tocopherol (vitamin E), retinyl (Vitamin A), ascorbic acid (Vitamin C), potassium sorbate, and various essential oils -- all of which are not harmful to the body. Yes brand oil-based intimate lubricants contain vitamin E, which acts not only as a natural preservative, but a natural  moisturizer. Yes water-based lube contains two preservatives -- Phenoxyethanol and Potassium sorbate -- both of which occur in nature and are produced synthetically. Yes is comitted to producing only 100% organic, natural and animal-free products, and use the equally as safe synthetic preservative in their water-based lubricant formula.
