Question:

My partner and I have decided to start trying to get pregnant this year so I am looking for natural ways I can prime my body to conceive. I regularly use herbs and vitamin supplements for general health maintenance, but I want to make sure that I fully understand the benefits of herbs for getting pregnant before I choose a formula. I have read that some herbs and supplements can actually decrease fertility.

While there is no surefire formula to guarantee that you will conceive, there are certain herbs that have been used for centuries and across numerous cultures for  aiding conception by enhancing female fertility and male virility, and balancing and tonifying the reproductive system. The formulas we carefully chose are all premium blends containing several of these fertility promoting herbs, which also happen to have very positive effects on regulating the menstrual cycle and reducing PMS symptoms even when a woman is not trying to get pregnant.

Chasteberry is considered to stimulate luteinizing hormone (LH) production and to help balance progesterone and estrogen levels in order to regulate the menstrual cycle.

Red clover is also thought to help balance hormone function and contains isoflavones (estrogen-like compounds), which may promote estrogen production and enhance fertility.

Siberian Ginseng, a standard-bearer in Eastern medicine, is believed to regulate hormones and lend support for optimal uterine function and tone. Also a fertility enhancer.

Ginkgo Biloba is touted for improving blood circulation and increasing the peripheral blood flow to the reproductive organs, which is essential for maintaining healthy blood vessel tone.

Herbs you should avoid when trying to conceive are those which are believed to reduce fertility and interfere with implantation, include Wild Yam, St. John’s Wort, Echinacea, Cotton Root Bark, and Neem.
